"I have to say that I am so grateful to RECO for giving me back my life. There are no words to express to deepest integrity this program has to its clients. I truly believe in my heart of hearts that I would not be here today if it wasn’t for the therapist, staff, techs and administrators that have touched my life. I live today because RECO believes." -Kellie R.

RECO’s mission has and always will be, to get back to a brighter future. For those seeking recovery, they usually have no idea what sober fun looks like, or that it is even possible.
Events like the Annual Recovery Dodgeball Event, are just one of those ways. Sure to be a day filled with fun and heated dodgeball competition, we will all get the opportunity to work towards a greater good for those suffering from addiction, while hoping to earn the very serious and hard earned dodgeball bragging rights for the next year. This year RECO will try to keep their winning streak alive, as one of last year’s reigning champs.
The South Florida Recovery Dodgeball Tournament has raised over $30,000 for charity since its first tournament in 2015. And since its inception, RECO has been a part of the cause. This will be RECO’s 4th year as a proud host sponsor for the event.
The dodgeball tournament which happens annually, benefits a different non-profit organization each year. The non-profits chosen are those that provide resources and assistance to individuals and families affected by substance use and mental illness. This year’s tournament will be raising money for Guardian Behavioral Health Foundations, Fund-A-Mental Health Initiative. Last year’s event worked to raise money for the Delray Beach Police Department C.A.R.E.S. Program and years past included recipients such as the Salvation Army.
The Guardian Behavioral Health Foundations is a nonprofit mental health organization that provides financial assistance to individuals and families living with a mental illness who cannot afford mental health services, and educates the community about mental illness through outreach activities and public education.
Thanks to hosts like RECO and other centers, the event is free to the recovery community and its supporters. Treatment facilities’ clients, staff, and alumni, local sober living homes, 12 step clubhouses and anyone supportive of those in recovery are invited to attend. However, all money raised and spent at the event is donated to the Guardian Behavioral Health Foundations and their effort to help those who cannot afford the help they need.
There will be food, music, games, prizes, and most importantly dodgeball for a cause. Teams of 5 are encouraged to sign up in advance but registration will begin at noon the day of the tournament as well. So if you feel like you are up to the challenge of taking on last year’s champs we say bring it on!
The tournament is December 8th, 2018. For more information visit the website at: www.recoverydodgeball.com or check out the Facebook page.
