Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is the bridge between residential and outpatient care — the level of care that delivers full clinical depth during the day while letting clients sleep in a sober-living residence at night. RECO Intensive's PHP in Delray Beach combines clinical intensity with the early steps of normal-life re-entry.
What PHP looks like at RECO Intensive
PHP clients attend clinical programming Monday through Friday, 6+ hours daily, totaling 30+ hours per week. Programming includes group therapy across multiple modalities, individual therapy weekly, medical and psychiatric appointments, experiential work, family sessions, and case-management touchpoints. Evenings and weekends are spent in sober-living residences with light support and the beginning of re-entry tasks.
A typical PHP day at RECO
- Morning: Check-in group, primary therapy or psychiatric appointment
- Mid-morning: Skills group (CBT, DBT, mindfulness, or trauma processing)
- Lunch: On-site, with the recovery-nutrition program
- Afternoon: Process group, experiential modality, or family therapy
- Late afternoon: Case management or aftercare planning
- Evening: Back to sober-living residence; optional alumni-community engagement
How PHP fits in the continuum of care
PHP typically follows a residential stay (the step-down from 24/7 care) — though some clients enter directly at the PHP level if their clinical picture supports it. Average PHP duration at RECO is 4-6 weeks. From PHP, most clients step down to IOP, with continued sober-living housing.
Who PHP serves best
Clients stepping down from residential who still need clinical intensity but are stable enough for evenings off-site. Clients whose initial level of care assessment supports PHP without prior residential — typically those with moderate severity and stable home support. Clients re-engaging treatment after a prior episode that ended too soon.
What PHP builds toward
The therapeutic work at PHP is similar to residential in depth, but the lower hourly intensity (versus 24/7 residential) allows the beginning of evening structure, sober-living community integration, and re-entry tasks. The transition into IOP is paced clinically — when programming hours can step down without compromising stability.
Why RECO's PHP is different
Many PHPs are large day-program clinics with minimal clinical depth per hour. Ours runs with the same clinical team that delivers residential — your primary therapist continues with you through PHP, your psychiatric provider stays the same, your case manager carries through. The continuity is one of the structural strengths of the RECO model.
