Background
Vincenzina Disalvo — known to clients and colleagues as Ms. V — is a Marriage and Family Therapist at RECO Intensive with many years of experience in behavioral health. Her path into the field is personal: after watching her son struggle with addiction, she returned to school to become an MFT, driven by the conviction that families need their own recovery, not just their loved ones.
That lived experience gives her a distinct kind of authority. She has sat in the family chair. She knows the guilt, the fear, the exhaustion, and the whiplash of hope. And she uses that empathy to hold space for families walking through the same terrain.
Approach
Ms. V’s work with families is grounded in systems thinking, unconditional positive regard, and gentle honesty. She believes healing begins with vulnerability, empathy, and unconditional love — three practices she coaches families to develop together, in real time, in her sessions.
Her approach is neither confrontational nor performative. She helps families untangle patterns of enabling and control, rebuild trust through consistent action, and set boundaries that actually hold. She works with parents, siblings, spouses, and adult children — anyone whose life has been shaped by another person’s substance use.
Education & Credentials
Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Ms. V returned to school after her son’s struggle with addiction gave her a vocation. Her clinical work in behavioral health spans many years, focused specifically on the family systems around addiction and mental health.
